Chicago

A couple of weekends ago we decided go to Chicago.  After our little adventure with the traffic in Chicago, we decided to take the Metra train into town.  We also learned the in and outs of public transportation that day.  This trip gave us a lot of learning curves, along with learning to patient. One of the major downfall of using public transportation is that you are on their schedule. Our plan was to go to Lincoln Park Zoo and then to Navy Pier.  By mid-afternoon we were dealing with some tried kids, so we decided not to go to Navy Pier.

Waiting to get on.

This is Kyle way of enjoying the zoo.

Alli really enjoys the animals.

World Quiz 2013

We traveled to Indianapolis IN the weekend of June 21, for Rachel to participate in World Quiz 2013.  World Quiz happens every four years as part of the General Assembly for the Church of the Nazarene.  This year the material was on the book of Acts.   She was one of 1,036 blue level quizzers from the US and four other countries.  She missed two with a score of 95% and received a gold award.

The trip down will be one that we will remember, but one that we would like to forget.   We found out real fast about how bad the traffic in Chicago can be.  This drive was suppose to take 4 1/2 hours and ended up being an almost 6 1/2 hour trip.  Also add in that we forgot that Indianapolis is on Eastern Time.  Thanks to some friends from the Church in Newton for registering Rachel Friday night, because we would have never had made it on time.  We then get to the motel to be told that they have our reservation, but they have no rooms available.  They did finally get us a room, but the girls slept without pillows or blankets the first night on the pull out couch.

We were able to eat lunch with the Youth Pastor and his family from Newton on Sunday and enjoyed our visit.  Rachel was so excited to see Maddie. Rachel would like to thank the Kurtz and the Dages for coming and watch her quiz. As parents we are very proud of her for her hard work, accomplishments and the fact she is hiding God's word in her heart.
